The Bollywood Vegi Farm is one of the interesting pit stops we did during the cycling last Sunday (Kranji route). The boss, Ivy kindly gave us an introduction and also share her facinating childhood stoies.

We finished early (just before 10am) so I took a slow pace riding back, make an unexpected turn into Clemenceau avenue than Cairnhill circle and the Emerald link. It was a quiet and pretty back lane just next to Orchard road.

Thanks to GL’s wonderful suggestion of the Woodlands-Sembawang waterfront route, we had a great time exploring the area. Our new member Andy turn out to be the perfect sweeper, covering our tail and making sure everyone back safely.

Sunday morning ride (tall format)
Rodney Loh found some time to stitch the “tall format” clips of last Sunday’s ride…Enjoy!
“On yet another “lesiure” sunday ride with LOVECYCLING.NET, we decided to explore the east side…but it started pouring as we gathered at the meeting point. Well, we will cycle and brave the rain for prawn noodles!”
This coming Sunday morning ride (2010-09-12) starting at 0730 from Botanic Garden to Kent ridge Park.
This is SG, and this is my bike..
Oh well, SG is not quite there yet. Let’s get some inspiration from the model city of cycling..
Uncle Lau and his parrot
Uncle Lau and his parrot “Bebe” is very easy to spot on his morning cycling route along the Kallang river. I first met him in 2004. At that time he was riding a classic yellow Dahon folding bike. He has a custom built handle bar fitted with a small branch, which is the resting place for Bebe. Bebe can speak a lot of phrases in a few languages including English, Cantonese, Hokin and Japanese. Uncle Lau is always happy when I see him occasionally on my way to work. He told me that cycling keep him fit and Beibei love the opportunity “to breath some air”. He meet his friend along the Kallang river park connector, chat with each other while doing exercise. In a way uncle Lau is my inspiration to keep cycling.

NAME: Francis Chu
LOCATION: Singapore
OCCUPATION: Product Designer
Where do you live and what’s it like riding in your city?
I live in Singapore, and have been riding a bicycle to work every day since 2003. Non-cyclists believe Singapore’s weather is hot, humid and not suitable for cycling. However, cycling in the morning and evening’s fresh air is lovely in Singapore all year round!
What was your favorite city to ride in, and why?
My favorite city to ride in is Eindhoven in Holland, where I used to live. You feel very safe riding on the well-connected bicycle lanes. Osaka is another lovely city to cycle. The cycling facilities are not as good as in Holland, but the people are very polite to each other.
Why do you love riding in the city?
Cycling in the city is liberating and empowering. One can go five times as fast as walking, yet it’s possible to pause at any point to check out the local goodies or snap an interesting photo. I like to bring my folding bike everywhere I go, including overseas trips. The bicycle empowers me to explore a new place with great speed and details.
Or just say whatever you want about riding in the city…
As a product designer, I need quality thinking time. Cycling in the city allows me to distill my mind and come up with innovative ideas. The SuperCool mask and the Cyclist Wing are examples of such innovative ideas.
